In August 2010 DePuy Orthopaedics Inc announced a recall of two ASR hip replacement products, given a high failure rate and patients requiring second hip replacements following use of the DePuy products.
It is estimated that 3,500 public and private patients in Ireland have received such implants since 2004. Thousands of patients have had to undergo early repeat surgeries. Many many patients have also been identified as having raised level metallic ions in their blood system. It is not known what damage these metal ions can cause.
If you have had a DePuy hip replacement, you may be entitled to financial compensation if you require corrective treatment. You should immediately take legal advice and we at M.M. Halley & Son have experience in dealing with these cases. To date we have settled numerous cases for clients who have had to have corrective surgery.
